The tour begins around Montalcino, in a farm whose buildings sink their origins in Middle Ages. There it will be made a tasting of different types of wine produced in Montalcino, including the famous Brunello. In the farm the remains of the feudal fortification and those of the "stop-Osteria" in the service of the Via Francigena are perfectly visible.
Inside the farm a real museum has been built, as well as a lot of passion and love, with capacity and modern exhibition criteria.
Today these places are part of the historical beauty of the Park of the Val d'Orcia. In the heart of the wine cellar, a sort of caveau where dozens of barrels and several bottles of precious wine peacefully rest and are aged, the oldest jewel was bottled in 1955.
It is a very rare collection of bottles of Brunello. A place that invites you to the respect of so much perseverance and hard work.
After the wine tasting the tour follows to the Abbey of Monte Oliveto Maggiore. During the transfer, stop in San Giovanni d'Asso, to discover the absolute master of the table in the area: the white truffle. Visit tof the Museum of the Truffle.
A Monte Oliveto Maggiore lunch in a restaurant located in the old guard tower that controlled access to the abbey. After lunch a glass of Flora of Monte Oliveto, a bitter produced by Benedictine monks using 23 herbs, will be offered to all the guests.
In the afternoon guided tour of the abbey, famous for its cloisters frescoed by Sodoma and Signorelli. The tour continues with a visit to Asciano which will end in a local bakery, custodian of the original recipe (top secret) of the famous panpepato (a christmas local cake) Giardi, one of the sweet, in Siena's area, whose taste has not been dimmed by the time. Tasting of local traditional cake (panforte, panpepato, ricciarelli and cavallucci).
The return will be made along the Lauretana National Road, which crosses the beautiful wilderness area of the Crete Senesi, a wide strip of land that is characterized by the presence of countless hills of clay white or yellowish. These are the views that inspired the backgrounds of the paintings of the most famous painters form Siena in the past
