The Palazzo Pubblico of Siena (also known as Palazzo Comunale) is a building built approximately between 1297 and 1310 by  the Republic of Siena’s Government, as its headquarters. This function is also reflected today, as the seat of the municipal administration, as well as the Civic Museum. It stands on Piazza del Campo and is flanked by the slim Torre del Mangia. Inside it preserves masterpieces of the golden age of Sienese art, including the famous fresco of Allegory and Effects of Good and Bad Government by Ambrogio Lorenzetti, among the most significant profane representations of the European fourteenth century, and other famous works of Simone Martini, Duccio di Buoninsegna, Sodoma and Beccafumi.
